Wh...I am Paula Spears and my son Kenneth has ADHD! Which I know you know, because you were very supportive when I mentioned it on my blog. Labels are HARD and ADHD is, unfairly, one of the HARDEST. My son still struggles at age 21, but he is a wonderful, caring and brilliant young man. He recently decided he wants to pursue a degree in elementary education, and when he is a teacher, his students will be some of the luckiest students around! ADHD kids/adults are often very creative in addition to bright. I have been through all the struggles with finding the "right" medication while fighting the negative perception people have of medication and ADHD. I've fought the schools to get an IEP for my son... ADHD is NOT considered a learning disability, but it should be. I've fought the people who say it's not a "real" disorder. It's hard. But I love my son so every minute was worth it. Here's something helpful my mom said... you wouldn't withhold insulin for a diabetic, so why in the world would you withhold medication from a child with a documented medical condition? You wouldn't!

You're a GREAT mom. I've done it all in ADHD land, so if you ever need to vent or talk, you know where to find me! Hugs!Paulahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13540561659147248278noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368757160216715335.post-29270861765952472752011-01-17T09:38:35.317-05:002011-01-17T09:38:35.317-05:00When I was reading this blog I started thinking of...When I was reading this blog I started thinking of that song, "Greater things are yet to come, greater things will still be done." I know with the help of the meds Anna will feel so much more peaceful and be able to focus and though there is disappointment tied to having to deal with it to begin with, you are both stronger, more compassionate, and have learned to live a life of grace for yourself and others even in the face of difficulty. That is inspiration. Anyone can live an easy life with grace....Christinahttp://christinasdavis.xanga.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368757160216715335.post-24233904154983989232011-01-16T16:43:23.240-05:002011-01-16T16:43:23.240-05:00Wow, what an amazing woman, mother and champion fo...Wow, what an amazing woman, mother and champion for your daughter's cause!!! THANK YOU for everything you said about ADHD and a child's intelligence, a parent's attention to their child's well being. It takes a lot of work and dedication to parent and care for a child with ADHD. Please continue to write about your experiences. I can't think of a better person to be the face of the cause!!!
